Nova Children's Therapy

Supporting Children’s Growth Through Compassionate, Evidence-Based Occupational Therapy

Meet Our Therapist

Launching January 2026: Nova Children's Therapy

We are excited to introduce Occupational Therapy (OT) as the first service offered through Nova Children's Therapy, and Speech Therapy will be added as we grow.

At Nova Children's Therapy we provide comprehensive, child-centered Occupational Therapy (OT) designed to support children in building the foundational skills they need for confidence, independence, and everyday success. Our services help children participate more fully in play, learning, and social experiences through evidence-based evaluation and individualized treatment.

Our Approach

At Nova Children’s Therapy, we are Polyvagal-informed providers committed to creating safe, supportive, and healing environments for every child and family we serve. Our approach centers on reducing stress, fostering restoration, and promoting whole-child well-being. This belief system forms the foundation of every service we provide.

We recognize that children are doing the best they can in each moment, and with the right input, connection, and therapeutic strategies, meaningful and positive change is always possible. Our team deeply understands the autonomic nervous system and integrates brain-based modalities, bottom-up treatment approaches, and cognitive strategies to support growth across all areas of development.

Both Ellie and Janet are certified Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) providers, trained in the practical application of Dr. Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory. The SSP is a gentle, evidence-based listening intervention designed to reduce sound sensitivity, improve auditory processing, support behavioral state regulation, and enhance social engagement.

Our goal is simple: to create a space where children feel safe, supported, and empowered—and where families feel understood and equipped with tools that help their child thrive.

Our Services

We offer a comprehensive occupational therapy evaluation of retained primitive reflexes, sensory processing, and fine motor and gross motor skills. Child’s strengths and areas of concern will be assessed using standardized assessments, observation during unstructured play, parent report, and performance on functional activities.

We offer assessments and treatments for a wide range of challenges. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Sensory Processing Disorders/Difficulties
  • Emotional and self-regulation skills
  • Play skills (social engagement and emotional regulation/coping skills)
  • Interoception skills
  • Executive functioning skills (attention, organization, and participation difficulties)
  • Growth mindset skills and mental health
  • Gross, fine, and visual motor skills
  • Motor planning and coordination skills
  • Dysgraphia (handwriting skills)
  • Self-help skills

How Sessions Work for Enrolled Students

All therapy takes place onsite with a Nova-employed Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA).

During each appointment:

  1. Your child is checked out of their classroom via Brightwheel.
  2. The OTA escorts them to the OT room for their scheduled session.
  3. After the session, the OTA returns your child to the classroom and checks them back into care.

Please note: During OT sessions, your child is not under childcare supervision. An informed consent form is required to acknowledge this transition of care.
